About The Goode Life - Scott and Deborah Morgan-Goode's Gite in the Normandy Countryside.

Originally from Oxfordshire, we decided that we needed a new challenge and an adventure for our young family. We were also looking for a better quality of life for our two children and the idea that we could give them the opportunity to grow up bi-lingual really appealed to us.

So back in 2004 we sold our house in England and bought our property in Normandy, northern France. We've been able to buy a property with around nine acres of land, giving our young children, Jessica and Sydney loads of space to play.

We've been very pleased to find that they intergrated really well into the small local pre-school. Like the primary school it has around 35 children in all and gives them a wonderful start to their French schooling. They have of course picked up French really easily and we're making progress, although much slower of course.

2008 News
Thanks to everyone who's stayed with us in 2008 and made our first year a great success. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the couples and families and we look forward to seeing those of you who've already rebooked, in 2009.

We've added a great new addition to the garden - a 12ft trampoline which is fantastic fun for children and adults alike.

...and as a pet, we now have our own donkey munching away on the grass in one of our fields. Come and see if you can get him to feed out of your hand...

We started by renovating our house and then restored the hayloft into our gite. We undertook most of the work ourselves. Scotts' experience and skills as a builder were part of the reason that we were prepared to undertake the work.

We've now seperated the nine acres and have around two and a half acres of garden and the rest are now fields for local horses and our donkey. Now that all the renovation is over we can really concentrate on our burgeoning vegetable plot! Although we're novices at it, we've been really enjoying it and have found it immensely satisfying to eat our own vegetables and of course the fresh eggs laid by our hens.

We always look forward to meeting new people from England, Europe and around the world and take great pleasure in doing our very best to offer our guests the best relaxing holiday in our gite.
